RE//Flecting at ARTRAGE

General

In July of 2024, ARTRAGE, in collaboration with Tourism Western Australia, began a fresh and exciting chapter with the conception of RE//PERTH

The 10-Day Winter Arts festival saw Perth turn into an immersive urban wonderland. Forgotten spaces were revitalised and local heroes were tapped to provide the the best of the best in arts, culture, and dining.

The diverse program was defined by different the unique spaces in which they were held, including; RE//Flection, RE//Birth, RE//Purpose and RE//Play.

We saw many a rightful standing ovation with Gravity & Other Myths' hero production, The Mirror. The spine-tingling show saw masses of jaws on the floor every night and rave reviews across its 3-week run.

We learnt how to exist more sustainably, thanks to House of Fast Fashion, managing to reroute an astounding 750kg of clothing waste from landfill. Starting as a workshop and up-skilling for the creatively-inclined, ended with participants strutting their stuff and exhibitions of the works.

Over a thousand mouth-watering dishes were served up as part of the RE//Birth program which included RE//Vined and The Banquet. World-class culinary excellence was at our fingertips at The Banquet thanks to the beautiful team at Fervor. Tastebuds, as well as our minds were tantalised as Chef Paul 'Yoda' Iskov guided us through a degustation journey of indescribable delight. While RE//Vined gave an overdue spotlight to Western Australia's incomparable vines - the drops of which were perfectly paired with bites from Heyder and Shears.

The Y3K Ball shined a shimmering disco ball light onto the BIPOC, queer and trans community and they ate it up! Also as part of the varied and dynamic RE//Birth programming we offered up Aesoteric, Howling At The Moon and Grooveyard Shift.

We also had a cluster of free offerings, including art installations and family fun for the the little ones during the school holidays. A unique opportunity to connect to indigenous culture was offered up with Boorongur (Totem) and Reclaim the Void, which inspired insightful and educational dialogue.

We could boast all day about the goods we had the privilege to offer up as part of RE//PERTH, but we're gearing ourselves up to bring you more inimitable events in Perth.

All in all, we had an absolute ball! As did 11,000+ patrons we welcomed during the festival. ARTRAGE thanks all artists, vendors, partners for their involvement in this exciting new venture. With particular thanks to Tourism WA for their shared commitment to spotlight Perth and the arts.
