FRINGE WORLD Festival is thrilled to welcome back 2024 Martin Sims Award Winners CRASH Theatre Co.'s Lady Macbeth Played Wing Defence.

The prestigious Martin Sims Award is presented to the best new work of the Festival by a Western Australian company and has previously helped to propel some of the finest talent from WA shores.

In 2024, Lady Macbeth Played Wing Defence also graced the stages of Melbourne Fringe, Sydney Fringe, and will be premiering at Adelaide Fringe in 2025, greatly supported by the $15,000 Martin Sims Award prize pool received from The Fringe Fund.

In addition to the Martin Sims award, Lady Macbeth Played Wing Defence added the Adelaide Fringe Tour Ready Award, Best in Cabaret & Musical Theatre at Sydney Fringe to their ever-growing trophy collection.

When asked of their recent success, Crash Theatre Co's fearless leaders Ana Ferreira Manhoso and Courtney McManus had this to say -

"Over the past year, Lady Macbeth Played Wing Defence has gone from strength to strength, captivating audiences across the country. Receiving the 2024 Martin Sims Award has been a true game-changer, not only validating our work but also providing the resources to take this bold and ambitious production on a national tour. We are incredibly proud to showcase this fearless celebration of ambition, friendship, and the extraordinary talent of WA artists.
The interstate reception has been phenomenal—our Sydney and Melbourne audiences were electrifying, and we are deeply grateful for the overwhelming love this show has received. Winning Overall Best in Cabaret and Musical Theatre at Sydney Fringe Festival was a standout moment of our 2024 tour."

Whether you have felt the raw, innate energy of those half-time orange slices or never stepped foot on the court, this show truly is for everybody. From razor-sharp wit, high Shakespearean drama and dreamy synth-pop music genius by PROJECT BEXX - it has it all and more.
